My Therapeutic Approach
Psychodynamic psychotherapy gives you the opportunity to understand yourself better with the help of a trained listener. This includes the unconscious parts of your mind, which may be driving dynamics of behaviour in your life that are distressing and dysfunctional. A better understanding of these patterns can lead to positive change and a greater sense of agency in your life.
Thinking about how your childhood experiences have shaped you is important in as far as it has relevance to your current life. Exploring dynamics which may emerge in the therapeutic relationship can be extremely valuable, as they often mirror difficulties in your other relationships.

I work with people who have never tried therapy before, but I also frequently encounter others who have tried therapy before and are looking for a different approach. They may have found their previous experience helpful, but often feel that it didn't go far enough to really create long-lasting change.
